FAQ
Roofing Questions, Answered
What type of roofing materials do you use?
Depending on the roof, we use asphalt shingles, which have a 30-year lifespan. We also use rolled roofing for flat roofs, and metal where it is applicable or requested.
How long does replacing a roof typically take?
1–2 days depending on material and weather. In most cases, we provide same-day service once the job has begun.
How can I get an inspection?
Call us at 240-702-3085 or request an estimate online. We'll schedule a free inspection.
Do I have to be out of the house when you replace the roof?
No, you can be home all day if you'd like. It might be a bit noisy.
Can I remove ice from my roof?
Only a professional should do this. Call us and we'll take care of it. We can also tell you about roofing products that help prevent ice dams.
What are ice dams?
Ice dams are when ice builds up on the roof edges or in the roof valleys.
How do you calculate the number of shingles needed for my roof?
By the square method: one square is 10 × 10 feet, or 100 square feet.
Why is there discoloring on my roof?
Environmental factors cause discoloration — heat, cold, shade (mold) and so on. Newer products are designed to combat this.
What kind of ventilation can I use on my roof?
There are several types depending on how your house is built. The rule of thumb is 1 vent per 150 square feet of floor space.
Why does my siding crack and fade?
Aluminum siding fades over time, and vinyl siding cracks and fades over time. Newer products resist this.
Is a full siding job the only option?
Only if you want it to match.
Is there maintenance after new siding is installed?
Power washing shaded areas from time to time is a good idea to remove mold.
My home was damaged by a storm. What is the turnaround time to fix it?
After an inspection from a licensed inspector, you may want to involve your insurance company. We can help with that.
I received my insurance check for the damages. What now?
Give us a call. We can complete the repair and communicate with the insurance company on your behalf to make sure the work is completed.
Will you work with my insurance company on my roof repair or replacement?
Absolutely.
